Tomato Black Russian Lycopersicon Esculentum Seeds
Packet of 50+ home grown organic seeds!
These guys produce a really tasty, large, rich flavoured fruit.
Ideal for sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and because of the large sized fruit you only need one for a decent feed.
Although they are called Black Russian, the fruit are anything from black, maroon, red, orange and they can even have a bit of green on them when soft and fully ripe.
Quite pretty really and very hard to capture in a photo.
I must be doing something wrong as red and green never quite looks true to life in my camera, at least not when I do it.
Easy to grow, just like any Other Tomatoes, but it best to stake these guys or grow them on a trellis as the weight of the fruit can easily buckle the stems.
The only downside to this one is they taste so good that everything wants to eat them.
Keep an eye on caterpillars when the fruit begins to ripen up, and if you have lots of parrots like we do, be prepared to sacrifice at least 1/3 of the crop.
In theory netting is another option but yeah, ours are pretty smart and very determined so these days we just grow a few extra plants.
