Shungiku Tangho Chrysanthemum Coronarium Seeds
120+ seeds of this multipurpose Japanese flower and leafy green.
It’s a native to South East Asia and large chunks of the Mediterranean, and its a popular food source in just about every location. Most often grown as a vegetable, you use the leaves as you would any other pot herb.
Lightly boil, add to soups, stews, noodle dishes, pasta sauces and the immature flowers are used dried to make tea. Used as a medicinal to aid digestion and for preventing colds and flu.
Very high amounts of Beta-carotene, much higher than even spinach! Heaps of Vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9(Foliate), C, K, Zinc, Potassium, Iron and Calcium.
Commonly known by heaps of names like garland chrysanthemum, chrysanthemum greens, edible chrysanthemum, chop suey green, crown daisy, Japanese-green, mantilida, antimonio, kikuna, mirabeles, moya, tangho, tongho, tan o, cai cuc, or shungiku, the one we know it as.
Grows really easily and looks super cool too!
I would grow it just for the pretty flowers even if it wasn’t edible and loaded with antioxidants. Handles the dry here really well, still putting on new growth even in the hard times.
