Really easy to grow, with no pests or diseases we have experienced.
Originally we just took a couple flowers home from a friend’s place and sprinkled it in the garden. Self-seeded with ease ever since.
It’s an edible and attractive flower that attracts the good bugs to your garden such as predators like praying mantis, assassin bugs, small spiders etc etc etc.
It also attracts the beneficial pollinators like native bees, bumble bees, butterflies, pumpkin beetle and lady bugs.
I really like it, and it’s a great choice to plant just after weeding a new garden bed. It grows better than most weeds so it crowds them out, giving the other useful plants a chance to compete, and is easier to “weed” than the real weeds. Just harvest the cosmos plant where you will plant the tomato plant in its place.
Very easy to transplant, it helps to crowd out the real weeds, it looks good, attracts the bees to pollinate your other edibles, and you can even eat it in a salad!!!
