Broccoli Waltham Brassica Oleracea Seeds

Packet of 200+ seeds!

Organically grown and harvested by us, this interesting variety of Broccoli was originally bred by the “University of Massachusetts, Waltham Field Station, Waltham, MA in 1950” for its medium-large even heads, and the abundant side shoots it produces once the main head has been removed.

It is a real bonus to the home gardener, as it produces a good feed of florets long after the standard cultivars are finished!

The side shoots are quite big producing about half the total weight in florets.

The whole plant is edible and DELICIOUS!
I eat the floret, the leaf, stem and the root. Fantastic stuff.

The stems are great when cooked for a couple minutes longer than the flower (just chuck them in first), and the leaves can be used just like Kale! (It’s the same breed of plant after all, and the nutrition content is quite similar including the anti-cancer chemical “Sulforaphae”).

Broccoli has been grow since the Romans made the rules, but it was only relatively recently that its exceptional health benefits were recognized.

Jam packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Vitamin, A, Folate, Lutein, Calcium, Potassium and Iron.
Apparently “A cup of cooked broccoli offers as much Vitamin C as an orange, and is very rich in beta carotene. Broccoli also contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc too.
High in fiber and low in calories”

This one is quite a hardy breed, being able to handle a mild frost, and hot dry conditions, provided it’s watered regularly.

Well there it is, Broccoli!

Much better to grow your own than that chemical filled rubbish in the supermarket! (So much cheaper to grow your own too!)

Grown by us organically, no nasties, no chems, no problems!!!
