Asparagus Officinalis Mary Washington Seeds
Packet of 50+ seeds!
Great low maintenance, drought tolerant vegetable.
Once established clumps are productive pretty much indefinitely, and we were able to start harvesting ours at about two and a half years of age.
Quite prolific if kept fed and watered, and few of ours next to the shed, that has not had a feed or water for at least 12 months now still throws a few spears every now and then.
If conditions are harsh and you don’t look after them at all they just chill out until conditions improve. Thought I had lost a couple plants to neglect, but after giving the beds a weed and a drink they all bounced back fine.
I was so impressed I recently planted a heap more myself.
This lot is the main heirloom variety called “Mary Washington” and it is a selection released back in the early 1900’s.
Resistant to rust and nice even spears, it has become the main variety for home gardeners ever since.
Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties, no problems!!!
