Datura Metel Double Orange Mandala Seeds
Packet of 15+ seeds from this beautiful yellow peach coloured poisonous flowering plant.
I have been told it may be the “Chorantha” variety, I am not sure so am just labelling as “Double orange mandala” as the original seller sold it to me as that.
I have grown it for three generations now and so far it breeds true with no variation.
EDIT* 20+ genereations now, still stable, breed true to form.
Double peach to yellow coloured flowers with an amazing smell, on a small stocky little plant.
Large, blunt spiked fleshy “thorn apple” style seed pod, accented with a dark green blush. It splits open from the top or sides, but very unevenly, and it doesn’t really dump its seeds, they sit intact, and if not carefully removed they often go mouldy, unlike most of the other relatives which it could be confused with. When the pod covering gets loose and the seeds become exposed, remove the whole pod, and mash it up in a bucket or bowl, then sun dry the seeds to stop mould forming. Easy as, but unless you do that, the sugars and moisture makes the whole thing rot 99.99% of the time.
For this reason I doubt this guy could ever become weedy, as it doesn’t self seed for me without careful human intervention.
Very beautiful, very hardy, any like a lot of other ornamental flowering plants very very poisonous if consumed.
Do not use this plant for anything except admiring, and with a bloom and structure like this, that is plenty of reason to own it.
Despite some folks saying otherwise, the whole family of Datura Species really is no use as a recreational drug at all, as they are not hallucinogenic, they are toxic deliriants. Hallucinogens make you “trip”, deliriants make you insane, literally.
If your intention is ingestion, in anyway, go bugger off and buy it somewhere else, as I really don’t need the drama.
If you are after a really striking ornamental, with awesome smelling, pale peach coloured flowers and striking pods, that grows easily and blooms continually, then this is what you want.
