Crotalaria Mitchellii Native Yellow Rattlepod Seeds
Packet of 10+ home grown native seeds!
These are a local native species that is very often confused with the weedy imports.
The reasoning being, how could something this dramatically beautiful possibly be a native?
Well, I can tell you now it definitely is, and the gorgeous yellow flowers are followed by a large snow pea type of pods. These pods contain the seeds.
The seeds are only loosely attached and if you give the pods a shake they do indeed rattle.
They are the food plant for various native butterflies and moths and although the natives benefit greatly from them, they are not people food.
Not edible, strictly ornamental, but as an ornamental they make a great choice.
They only get about knee high, and they can handle any soil except heavy clay.
Here they are growing on rocky rubble, but I see them on fertile river banks, barren exposed sandbars, and pretty much everything in between.
I reckon the big chain nurseries and garden centres should give them a crack but until that happens you can always buy the seeds from me!
Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties, no problems!!!
