Solanum Stramonifolium Inerme Baquicha Coconilla Seeds

Packet of 10+ of this very rare Amazonian fruit!

It is very closely related to the other plant that shares a common name of Naranjilla, but unlike that fella it does not have any spines and the whole fruit is eaten not just the juice and pulp.
Coconilla is the other main name it is known by and botanically it is Solanum stramonifolium var inerme “Baquicha”. The “inerme” bit meaning unarmed or spineless. It is also sometimes called Bolo maka, tapirillo, groseillier-diable, and groseille sauvage.

The plants growth is pretty much like an eggplant forming small knee high bushes that do great in pots.

I’m a fan and the best description I can come up with is the fruit has the thin skin of an eggplant, the fruit flesh texture of a Litchi tomato, and a sweet mild tropical flavour without any acid or citrus tones, maybe a small dash of cherry tomato?

It’s a hardy plant that doesn’t need much watering and it does good in pots.
Seriously, it’s basically an eggplant except it makes a delicious fruit instead of a vegetable. Germination is just as easy and like most Solanum species 2-8weeks is the normal germination time with weather changes or rain normally being the cue to pop.

I’m a big fan and I’ve been planting heaps but I can finally spare a few seeds so now’s your chance folks!

Grown by me and the Mrs Organically, no chems no nasties no dramas!!!

NOT FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA or TASMANIA due to added expense and drama involved.

If you decide to try and buy anyway, this item will not be sent. 🙂
