Monvillea Spegazzinii Cereus Moonlight Cactus
1x very well-rooted ~15cm Moonlight cactus!
It will be sent bare-rooted wrapped well in recycled materials to avoid transit damage and rot.
On arrival just remove them from the packaging and stand upright in a pot of completely bone dry sandy soil mix, being careful not to bury it too deep.
Don’t water for a week to allow any damage to heal and form a callous, but after that you can give them a good soak once a fortnight or when the soil has dried out. These guys are pretty bomb proof.
Normally called the Moonlight plant, this particular fella actually opens in the early mornings for me here. It produces flush after flush for months on end and these cuttings I’m selling should be flowering profusely in about a years time. Said to be the most prolific flowering Cereus, it is originally from Paraguay and Argentina.
It is super hardy with a large tuberous root and it does awesome in pots.
Being self-sterile means it won’t make fruit or set seeds(chicken egg-sized fruit, red skin, orange flesh, very sweet) without cross-pollination, so if you have a seedling grown one I’m very keen for a cutting swap!
That doesn’t stop it flowering though, and the masses of flowers are definitely the main reason folks grow it.
Along with all the other Cereus Species they are sometimes known as Night blooming cereus, also Cereus spegazzinii, Piptanthocereus spegazzinii, Monvillea lindenzweigiana, Piptanthocereus lindenzweigianus, Cereus lindenzweigianus, Monvillea vallegrandensis, Monvillea ebenacantha, Monvillea anisitsii, Cereus anisitsi, and Cereus marmoratus, but the current accepted name is Monvillea spegazzinii.
Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties, no problems!
