Azukia Rice Bean Vigna Minima Seeds
Packet of 10+ home grown rarely available seeds!
These guys are a rarely seen nitrogen fixing legume that also makes a great feed.
Closely related to the more common Vigna Species, this guy is a native to many parts of Asian including Japan, China, Taiwan, the Philippines and even India.
It is used as a cover crop to improve soils and the seeds and immature pods are used in curries, stirfry, or even just boiled as a staple side dish.
Pretty damn good I reckon, and apart from being a bit smaller than the more common species there isn’t any reason I can see for it not being more widely available.
Grows easily for me here and I often use it as a space filler in the rows, planting around a plant that is finishing up, so that the soil gets a bit of a boost.
That way I get a feed, the soil gets some nitrogen, and later when the beans are finished and the stems and leaves are dug in the humus level is topped up and replenished too.
Apparently these guys are used as fodder crops in some places but apart from my fish and chickens loving eating them readily I don’t have any other information.
Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties, no problems!!!
