Awesome Rare Native & Heirloom Seeds!

Howdy folks!

As you may have noticed, I'm super lazy and hate writing up newsletters...
I never know what to say and don't want to just scream “BUY OUR SEEDS!!!” at you.

Lots of folks do grow guides for each month, but I've never really been a believer of the whole “these plants can only be grown in x months” thing myself.

I do whatever I want whenever it suits me and here in sunny Queensland everything just copes or dies. Most cope but if they die that's cool too. I just move on to the next species. There are millions of cool plants after all. Unfortunately that means I can't really do a “monthly or seasonal planting guide” without feeling a bit slimy.
It's just not my style...

So yeah, that's off the list which meant I had no idea what to write about.
I would like to sell more seeds and with the weather warming up even you guys in much colder climates should be able to get most things going at the moment.

Some of the species in our collection are not for the average gardener and wouldn't be of interest to a dude that only wants to grow a few vegies.

It makes sense to me that those weirder species just don't sell well, but I love them anyway.

This fella the Transylvanian Porcupine Zombie Tomato Solanum Pyracathum Seeds is a great example.  Very cool plant but not for everyone, I get it.

But some things we have don't sell for any real reason at all. At least not for any reason that I can see?

We have a heap of very easy to grow, delicious/beautiful/hardy species that do well in suburban backyard gardens and are very worthy of more promotion and I've decided that is what this newsletter is going to be about!

Cool plants, that we can't sell, that you should grow.
Every plant below is very easy to grow and should do fine in all parts of Australia or anywhere warm for that matter.

Plantago Afra Black Psyllium Plantain Seeds

This fella is a great leafy green vegetable, ideal for stir fries. The seed heads are very high in fibre and are used as a laxative and for weight loss.

Bhut Jolokia Ghost Chilli Capsicum Chinense Seeds

This is a super hot chilli! It was the worlds hottest in 2007 and all these years later it is still one of our most productive.

Corchorus Olitorius Molokeyhia Nalta Tossa Jute Jews Mallow SeedsAwesome leafy green and super nutritious. Unlike most more commonly available greens this guy will actually survive and produce a crop without any TLC.

Eryngium Foetidum Culantro Cilantro Sawtoothed Coriander SeedsCoriander is a strong flavour that you absolutely love or hate. There is no middle ground, but for folks like me that love it, this is a great alternative to the more common one. It is super hardy and just grows and grows forever, long after the more common Coriandrum species has set seeds and died.

Kang Kong Water Spinach Ipomoea Aquatica Seeds
This one really surprises me as it's the easiest to grow, one of the most productive, and its a very common ingredient in pretty much every curry shop, noodle bar, and Asian restaurant.

Yet at the same time it is not commonly available in supermarkets or the big box garden centres. Everyone should grow kang kong I reckon?

The final one I want to give a plug for is Cotton Levant Gossypium Herbaceum Seeds

It isn't a food, but as a novelty and ornamental it's bloody perfect.
Beautiful flowers and handy too. You can use it to make any cotton product that you might normally buy, things like cottonbuds, absorbent bandages, and if your feeling really crafty you can even spin it and make thread or cloth.
A couple healthy plants will produce enough fluff to stuff a pillow.

There you go, a list of half a dozen plants you should really grow.
