Synsepalum Dulcificum Miracle Sweet Fruit Berry Seeds

Packet of 5 freshly picked whole fruit each containing 1 large viable seed!
Sold for germination purposes ONLY!

This fella is called the Miracle berry as its effect on sour high acid foods is truly miraculous.
This is due to the naturally occurring, miraculous chemical “miraculin”.

When you eat this fruit all it tastes of, is a mild lychee flavoured sweetness.
Some folks say like a weak flavoured cranberry, but to me its a bit more tropical.
Nothing too fancy, definitely nice, but only a small amount of flesh and a mild flavour.

But here is where the miracle happens.
If you eat something awful afterwards, something inedibly bitter or sour, lets say a lemon.
Those normally too sour acidic and bitter flavours are converted to sugar sweet flavours.

It confuses and tricks your tastebuds as the “miraculin” sticks to the receptors that interpret flavour, and after a few minutes they even change their shape.

Say your brain has a set of doors with different shaped locks that information from the mouth gets filtered through, and sweet keys are round, sour is square, bitter is triangle.
Miracle berrys bodgy up the lock, wedging it open like a screwdriver in a car ignition, distorting its shape, so that all keys, round, square or triangle, they all work on the sugar and awesome flavoured round door.

Everything you eat tastes bloody amazing!
That means it tells your brain there is something amazingly delicious and sweet, far tastier than normal, despite it really being a sour and bitter, boring old lemon for example.

This really cool effect takes a couple minutes to start, but it lasts anything from 20mins to 45mins before tapering off to normal again.
Because of this effect it is often used to help make food more palatable for the terminally ill like cancer patients, or to make boring taste good for those on low calorie, low sugar diets.

It is sold freeze dried or in pill form for a small fortune, but bugger that when you can just grow your own!
Here is how you do that.

On arrival rinse off any mould or rot, then soak the now reasonable clean fruit over night in a cup of water.

The next day wash and rub all the soft funky smelling flesh away leaving behind a very clean seed.
Very important not to crack the hard shell inside, the flesh is only a fine layer, and its easy to accidentally crack it with a thumbnail.
If cracked or bruised it’s still a 50/50 if they will germinate or just rot from fungal attack.
A mild Hydrogen Peroxide rinse before planting may improve your chances so I’m told, but I never bother.

Plant this seed a couple cm deep in a nice sandy soil mix, waiting about a 4-8weeks in a nice warm climate.
I get 100% success like this.

Folks in a hurry or in a cold climate may benefit from GA3. Apparently 500ppm-1000ppm is the sweet spot.
I personally don’t bother as germination is perfect and I am not in any great hurry.

Oh yeah, don’t waste your time buying these guys from China. They are all fakes substitution scams.
Also don’t bother buying “fresh” yet still dried seeds. All the dried seeds of this species I tried years ago didn’t germinate.
Dry = Dead with many tropical species, that is why I am selling them whole in fruit and shipped the same day I pick them. That is also why I can’t sent to WA.

While most folks call it Miracle fruit or berry, here are a few other names for this plant.
Miraculous berry, sweet berry, agbayun, taami, asaa, ledidi, Bakeriella dulcifica, Bumelia dulcifica, Pouteria dulcifica, Richardella dulcifica and Sideroxylon dulcificum.

Originally from Africa it is very popular all over the world, especially in Japan and USA.

Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties no problems!!!

NOT FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA or TASMANIA due to added expense and drama involved.

If you decide to try and buy anyway, this item will not be sent. 🙂
