Sacred Blue Lotus Petals Lily Nymphaea Caerulea

1x 3gram+ bag of fresh sundried petals and stamens.

Here it finally is folks!

We now grow quite a bit of this beauty, so will be selling a little of the excess petals from time to time.

Looks really cool in a dam, pond or water fountain, and the native bees love it. As we grow our own and don’t sell that imported rubbish, we have seeds for sale.>>> Blue lotus seeds

I think it’s natural sedatives affects the native bees in a big way, as they are often not even collecting the pollen properly.

They get sick of that working nonsense, and just sit there chilling out, watching the world go by.

Never seen them doing that on any other flowers?

These petals have a long history of uses in teas, spirits and smoking blends.

The internet tells me>>> In modern culture, blue lotus flowers are used to make various concoctions including blue lotus tea, wine and martinis. Recipes for such drinks involve steeping or soaking the petals, for up to three weeks. Blue lotus ‘tea’ is prepared by gently boiling the entire flowers for 10-20minutes.

Recent studies have shown Nymphaea Caerulea to have mild psycho-active properties. It may have been used as a sacrament in ancient Egypt and certain ancient South American cultures. Eating Blue Lotus can act as a mild sedative. Nymphaea caerulea is related to, and possesses similar activity to Nelumbo nucifera, the Sacred Lotus although higher levels of alkaloids. Both Nymphaea caerulea and Nelumbo nucifera contain the alkaloids nuciferine and aporphine. The sedating effects of Nymphaea caerulea makes it a likely candidate for the lotus plant eaten by the mythical Lotophagi in Homer’s Odyssey.

This lotus is used to produce perfumes since ancient times; it is also used in aromatherapy.

Used in aromatherapy, Nymphaea caerulea is purported to have a “divine” essence, bringing heightened awareness and tranquility. Some sources cite it as an antispasmodic similar to copal resin.
