Feverfew Headache Herb Tanacetum Parthenium Seeds

Packet of 200+ seeds from this remarkable herb.

Used since ancient times to reduce inflammation and arthritic pain and reduction of menstrual cramps and pain. Once used as the go-to medicine for fevers, hence its name, its main medicinal use now is for headache and migraine.

Recent studies show it has a strong preventative effect that was originally thought to be caused by the naturally occurring “Parthenolide”, a chemical which helps relieve spasms in smooth muscle tissue and is being studied as a cancer growth regulator. More studies seemed to show that isn’t why it works with headache and migraine, and they still haven’t really worked it out?

The fact that it does work in a lot of folks is all that really matters I reckon.
For me I find it totally cures me of headache, and some types of migraines.
Others migraines it makes far worse, just like aspirin or caffeine does.

A survey of 270 people with migraines in Great Britain found that more than 70% of them felt much better after taking an average of two or three small fresh feverfew leaves every day.

Several other human studies have tested the regular use of used feverfew to prevent and treat migraines, all with similar results.

One thing to note, it is a medicine and therefore if you do decide to eat it, be sure to taper off your intake and don’t eat it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

It is very similar to aspirin and other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, it is probably best not to take both at the same time. Like many medicines people who have suddenly stopped taking it after several years of use often experience a return of their previous level of migraines along with other symptoms such as nausea, anxiety and insomnia. This is known as “feverfew rebound syndrome”.

I mostly grow it as an ornamental because it looks cool!

Groovy little yellow and white daisy flowers, lacy leaf pattern, great gap filler in the rows and beds, easy to grow…

Just awesome!

Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties, no dramas!!!
