Canavalia Rosea Ensiformis Jack Bean Dried Herb

Canavalia Rosea Ensiformis Jack Bean Dried Herb

Canavalia Rosea Ensiformis Jack Bean Bean Dried Herb

5+gram packet of cut dried and sifted Jack bean leaf, stem and ventral vein removed.

I have had folks asking me for this for a long time, couple years actually, so I have finally got my act together and processed a whole heap. I will continue to make it part of my harvest schedule now and will ensure that it is no more than a couple months since harvest at any one time. Fresh as fresh can be.

Often known as Bay Bean, Seaside bean, Coastal Jackbean, Beach Bean, Mackenzie Bean, Canavalia rosea, Canavalia maritima Canavalia ensiformis, and I am sure a heap of other names that no one really agrees on.

It has a long history of Aboriginal use fresh as a poultice for joint pain, rheumatism, general pain due to injury, bruising, skin disorders, and even aches and pains from the common cold. It is often also a major ingredient in many smoke blends and herbal incenses.

This plant is very interesting for many different reasons and more information about the edible uses can be found here. Canavalia.

Nepeta Cateria Catmint Mint Dried Herb

Nepeta Cateria Catmint Mint Dried Herb

Nepeta Cateria Catmint Mint Dried Herb

Small ~3gram bag of organically grown, shade dried, finely chopped herb.

Often called catmint or catwort, this delicious variety of mint is a delicious, and great for tea. It also has mild arousal effect on some cats.

Not all cats react to it, but the ones that do really seem to be stimulated and excited by it, and for that reason it is often used as stuffing material in cat toys, and scratching poles.

Very long history of use as a relaxing herbal tea, and is a major ingredient of many herbal modern smoking blends due to it’s very mild sedative effects.

The tea itself is delicious, sort of fruitier than mint, and kind of sweeter at the same time.

Hard to explain, but really good, and one of my favourite teas of all.

It also has a natural mosquito repelling effect due to the “Nepetalactone”, proven to work more than 10times better than DEET, the toxic chemical component of most commercial mozzie sprays.

Since it’s called catnip, we better get back on to the cats, and wikipedia sums it up pretty well>>>

Catnip contains the feline attractant nepetalactone. Nepeta cataria (and some other species within the genus Nepeta) are known for their behavioral effects on the cat family, not only on domestic cats but also other species of cats. One test showed that tigers, leopards, and lynxes all reacted strongly to catnip in a manner similar to domestic cats, while lions reacted less frequently.

With domestic cats, Nepeta cataria is used as a recreational substance for pet cats’ enjoyment, and catnip and catnip-laced products designed for use with domesticated cats are available to consumers. The common behaviors when cats sense the bruised leaves or stems of catnip are rubbing on the plant, rolling on the ground, pawing at it, licking it, and chewing it. Consuming much of the plant is followed by drooling, sleepiness, anxiety, leaping about and purring. Some growl, meow, scratch, or bite at the hand holding it. The main response period after exposure is generally between five and fifteen minutes, after which olfactory fatigue usually sets in.

There you go folks, pretty cool hey!

Dried Herb Leonurus Sibiricus Marihuanilla Little Marijuana

Dried Herb Leonurus Sibiricus Marihuanilla Little Marijuana

Dried Herb Leonurus Sibiricus Marihuanilla Little Marijuana

Packet of 3grams freshly dried organic herb!

Picked from our home grown plants, packed and posted out fresh to you.

Called a heap of different things, Siberian motherwort, Marihuanilla, little marijuana, marihuanilla, marijuanillo, mahjiki, Chinese motherwart, ich mau thao, i mu isa, amor mio, mehajiki, yakumosos, yi mu cao and honeyweed to name a few.

Very attractive large flowering herb. It starts of small and takes a while to get started, but it really grows big in the last few months. I have had them get 2.5meters high and about 1.5meters wide in good soil here, much smaller and more manageable in pots if kept regularly pruned.

Lovely lacy foliage, Christmas tree shaped plant that ends up covered of pink and purple flower buds.

The traditional uses of the plant are really wide with the Chinese using the herb to treat “loss of potency in men”, as a diuretic and to relive the pain associated with postpartum bleeding or painful menstruation. In Mexico an alcohol extraction is made by chopping finely and soaking the leaf root and stem in liquor, then filtering and applying the medicine to joints to relieve the pain and inflammation associated with arthritic conditions.

It was also used as a tea by many cultures to help with hormone imbalance and “womens issues”.

These days the main use is as a smoking herb or base herb to many of relaxing tea blends that are now widely available these days. I use it as a tea myself and find it help heaps on those hot, sticky, summer nights, when I just can’t get comfortable and get to sleep.

It has a reputation for being very similar in effect to Marijuana, but I personally think this mostly stems from its very similar appearance, but saying that it does have a mild sedative effect much like the rest of the family.

Grown by me and the Mrs organically, no chems, no nasties no problems!!!
